Please join us as we gather to read and discuss Sutras\, chants\, practice Touching the Earth\, recite the Five Mindfulness Trainings\, and other practices in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh. If you have a copy of the book Chanting From the Heart\, please bring it. Don’t worry if you don’t! \nCheck out the Kingfisher Sangha newsletter for a ZOOM link tot he meeting. \nOur next meeting is on September 9. We typically meet on the first Monday of the month at the UU Congregation of Saratoga\, but we are adjusting this month in order to accommodate the Labor Day holiday.  We will collect dana for the Deepening the Practice gathering to help cover the cost of renting the space. \nPlease RSVP each month to Linda at revlin23@gmail.com if you plan to attend. In case of inclement weather or last-minute emergencies\, this will allow us to reach out to those who plan to attend to give any last minute details.

Check the newsletter for a link to the meeting. \nWe will begin reading The Art of Communicating by Thich Nhat Hanh\, (166 pages). How do we say what we mean in a way that the other person can really hear How can we listen with compassion and understanding? Communication fuels the ties that bind\, whether in relationships\, business\, or everyday interactions. Most of us\, however\, have never been taught the fundamental skills of communication\, or how to best represent our true selves. Effective communication is as important to our well-being and happiness as the food we put into our bodies. It can be either healthy and nourishing or toxic and destructive. Thich Naht Hanh delivers a powerful path to happiness through mastering life’s most important skill. \nPlease read chapters 3 and 4 for our August meeting. \nThe sangha has funds to help you purchase the book if you need them. DESCRIPTION:Annual Kingfisher Fundraiser and Potluck Picnic\nJuly 21\, Saratoga State Park\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n11:00 am\, SUNDAY\, JULY 21\, FERNDALE PAVILION\, SARATOGA STATE PARK \nIt’s time to celebrate the Sangha’s Third Annual Fundraiser/Vegetarian Potluck Picnic!! The last three years were huge successes and lots of fun! Let’s keep it going!! \nIt used to be that the Sangha raised its operating funds with Dana collection baskets at its individual in-person sit locations. That no longer happens. We now rely on the July Annual Fundraiser for the Sangha’s General Fund\, which supports: various operating expenses such as printing\, copying\, postage\, the Sangha brochure\, Day of Mindfulness expenses; donations in support of monasteries and other spiritual centers; scholarships for brothers and sisters to attend retreats and other events; other expenses as approved by the Care-Taking Council/Community Meeting. \nThe Sangha’s ability to hold separate fundraising events (book/yard sales\, etc.) is limited\, making the Annual General Fund Drive in July its one and only source of revenue.
