A Day of Mindfulness: Finding Freedom

Kingfisher Sangha is offering a Day of Mindfulness on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 10 am – 3:30 pm at the UU Society of Schenectady, 1221 Wendell Ave., Schenectady. The focus for the day is Everyday Mindfulness: Finding Freedom Right Where You Are, with dharma teacher, Bruce Nichols.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and get settled around 9:30 am. Please bring a vegetarian lunch. You may also wish to bring a blanket, yoga mat, or cushion for your comfort during the day. We will have outdoor walking meditation if weather permits. Please dress appropriately. RSVP to David at urthepower21@gmail.com. While RSVPs are not required, it’s helpful for us to plan.

About our dharma teacher: Bruce Nichols is a Dharma Teacher in the Plum Village tradition. He received lamp transmission in 2018 in Upper Hamlet, Plum Village. Bruce was introduced to Thich Nhat Hahn in the early 1990s by Thay’s book, Old Path White Clouds. He attended his first retreat at the Omega Institute in 1997 where he received the Five Mindfulness Trainings. In 1998 he visited Plum Village for the first time and has enjoyed a number of visits and 21-day retreats since. Bruce became a member of the Order of Interbeing in 2008 in Hanoi, Vietnam while on retreat with Thay and an international sangha. He practices with Harmony Sangha in Shelton, CT and regularly visits with sanghas around New England and beyond.
