Kingfisher Sangha Book Club

March 18 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm UTC-5

Kingfisher Sangha Book Group

Wednesday, March 18
at 6 pm via Zoom

The Sangha Book Group is open to sangha members who enjoy reading and discussing books together.  We get to know each other as we learn from each other’s perspectives as well as growing in our own practices.  We choose what to read based upon the suggestions we receive. Most of our choices come from works by Thich Nhat Hanh and others in the Plum Village tradition, though on occasion we read other Buddhist writers. The variety is fun.

Our choice for winter reading is Richard Brady’s “Short Journey Home.”

Richard Brady offers a deeply personal account of his mindfulness practice journey, inspired by Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, providing unique insights and practical wisdom for lay practitioners. Richard is a marvelous storyteller and his stories, though personal, have universal meanings and messages. Kingfisher sangha has had a long relationship with Richard, who has mentored, and currently mentors, some of our aspirants to the Order of Interbeing. He has offered numerous Days of Mindfulness as well.

For our next meeting on March 18, we will cover through chapter 8 of the book. The book Short Journey Home can be obtained through Parallax Press (www.parallax.org), a non-profit publishing house co-founded by Thich Nhat Hanh and Arnold Kotler. They publish books and media based on the art of mindful living and Engaged Buddhism The book may also be obtained through your local bookstore and other online book publishers. The sangha has scholarship funds that can help with the costs of the book. Please contact Starr if you wish to learn more about the scholarship funds.

Please join us on Wednesday, March 18 at 6pm on zoom. Contact Linda for the Zoom link. Any questions, contact Linda (revlin23@gmail.com)
